A. simple sentence

kalimat yang teridiri dari s+v
ex: she cried

B. compound sentence

compound sentence terdiri dari dua atau lebih simple sentence yang bergabung.
sebuah compound sentence berisi dua independen clause yang bergabung dengan coordinating conjuction (clausa1-conjuction-clausa2)

1. menggunakan sebuah koma dan coordinating conjuction.
(for, and, but, or, yet, so)
polanya kayak gini ni >> clausa,coordinating conjuntion clausa
2. menggunakan semicolon (;)
polanya kayak gini >> clausa ; clausa
ex: the teacher lectured for over an hour; his students slept soundly

keterangan:
-yet==> untuk membandingkan
ex: he did not study, yet he passed exam
-but==> untuk membandingkan dua hal yang berbeda
ex: jane came the meeting, but john stayed at home
-so ==> sebab dan akibat
ex: it is raining, so i bring my umbrella
- for==> sebab
ex: the class has cancelled, for the teacher got ill

C. Complex Sentence
yaitu terdiri dari dua clausa. independent dan dependent
1. Independent, (subordinating conj) dependent
2. (Subordinating conj) dependent, independent

Subordinating conjuction
1. Time and Place
(before, when, after, as while, untill, whenever, where, wherever)
2. cause and effect
(becouse, if, since, although, unless)
3. Using relative clauses
(sho, which, whom, whose)

ex: When i looked into the mirror, I saw an old man.

D. Compound complex sentence
terdiri dari 1 dependent clause dan 2 independent clause

ex: Although I like to go camping, I have not had the time to go lately, and haven't found anyone to go with.

pattern:
independent clause==> I have not had the time to go lately
independent clause==> I have not found anyone to go with
dependent clause ==> Although i like to go camping.
